Is it possible with just the typical WMP and computer to edit a clip ( one paid for through a membership  ) or is this only for more sophisticated equipment and true computer wizards ?

I want to send 30 seconds of a clip to another producer for a reference of a manuver for a custom shoot but the whole thing is just too long to e-mail.

Any suggestions / instructions ?

Thanks .....

No, not using media player - yes, using Windoze movie maker. Just import the video and splice it up any way you want. I do this all the time with DVD's, tapes, clips, whatever - I cut all the crap, bad camera work and babbling morons in the background and just leave the good stuff I want to see (girly rasslin).

You don't need any fancy video card to import an already digitized clip that you bought, but you might need to convert it into an importable format ie: quicktime to avi or divx to avi. This can be done easily with a nifty little free program called VirtualDub. Convert to avi then import to Movie maker. DVD's can be ripped using cool free programs called DVDdecrypter and DVDshrink to get around those pesky copyrights and such, you can remove the annoying FBI warning at the start if you wish, or edit the thing any which way you like. No training required, these are simple little programs you can figure out yourself.

www.downloads.com

downloads.com

They usually have something for whatever you need. You can also filter searches for free programs etc. I did a quick browse for ya and saw acouple freebies that should work. This site normally allows companies to showcase their stuff. Its a great source for just about everything. Or you can go to microsoft and find the windose movie maker that Leege was talking about. I got that free on my pc when I stole... I mean bought it:)

I got tons of media makers .... some cost afew bucks. I perfer the free windose media maker. Ulead was pretty good too. That can be found on their site and I think theres a free version. Its just that I kept having problems running it with xp so I scraped it.

Good luck and happy spanking.

What up Leeeeeeeeeeeege!

Oh and if you really mean business check out

isohunt.com

You will need to download bittollent and/or acouple other programs to run the system. But, this site has everything but the kitchen sink... and that might even be there too!

I'm sure its a fav for lots of people that come here. They just won't admit it. Word of caution  theres zillions of pirated stuff but again lots of companies put free versions on the site to showcase. The only problem is it takes forever to download something even if you have super-dupper high test fortified internet access. Thats when you walk away and come back afew hours to check if its done downloading. Typically a 200 Mb file takes about an hour or two, but like most say "if its free its for me."

Again .... lots of sketchy stuff there (all mainly safe to run/open) For instance if you wanna watch Superman, that dumb-ass Will Ferrel stockcar racing film ....anything in the theaters right now it'll be there. Even crap from the 60's til now. I found only 4 or 5 files of wrasslin stuff not worth downloading. Others may think differently.

When it comes to programs etc. You can download just about any macromedia program for free ... come to think of it theres every program over there. I found this site out while doing a site for some young dudes who made a fortune selling stuff on the internet. And they were still too cheap to pay for programs!?!? Go figure.

Goodluck-

Thanks for the advice ... I'll see what I can do. The clip is about 2 minutes and all I need is a thirty second segment from it.

I'd seriously be looking into some of those programs but this computer is on it's last legs and doubt it would run half of what you guys found for me.  I just spent close to $5000.00 on new roofing, windows and doors on my house and shop in the last six weeks so I'll have to make this P.O.S. do until I strike gold again. Really appreciate the help, though.

So ... I'll be damned .... "DVD Ripper"  is Legion ????  THE Legion ??? ...  from back in the day when I first discovered Barb's site ? He was always cracking me up and could have busted on me many times but didn't and instead was always nice to me for some reason, LOL. I remember one thing we both bitched about was the ****ty camera work by most producers and how he and GR would get into it about that.

Though I'm still bummed about Barb's site closing up I'm happy to see alot of your names appearing here now - especially Mr. Ripper himself .

Thanks again for the info .

I made that Futurama clip on the other thread using movie maker - edited the video, then imported the video into Flash to add sound clips where I wanted them. It doesn't require a powerful computer to do all this stuff, but it sure helps, if you don't want to wait forever while the thing crunches numbers. Some of the sound clips are actually taken from the game, 'Kingpin, Life of Crime'.

Note that many producers offer pisspoor quality downloads, but of course you don't realize that until after you pay for the thing. Probably the same parade of dunces who 'produced' poor quality video tapes, then poor quality DVD's, now poor quality downloads is their forte'. See a common denominator there?

It is truly amazing...even with inexpensive, super high res digital video cams the dunces still manage to feck it up. Oh well, what can you do?

5 grand for a new roof and new doors? Let me guess you didn't have three layers of shingles on your roof and you bought all the materials and did it yourself? The reason I ask is because I spent well over 11 grand on my flippin roof. Two layers, needed some new clad boards and got the 30 year shingles (I'm counting the years to make sure they are true to their word!) But my roof is pretty complex and enormous. Great to brag about the big house you live in. Its another thing to cry poverty for buying and maintaining it. Plus I wasn't about to "learn" how to put up a roof myself or buy acouple thirty-packs of beers and let my friends help. Thats just asking for disaster. Instead I let some company do it and believe me I shopped around. Hey its only $.

Good luck with the home. Its actually the best investment you can make.

My house is small ... friends laughed at me when I bought it but I refused to buy anything I couldn't afford to pay for alone. Three of these four guys who were laughing at me 10 years ago had to put 'SALE' signs on their homes 15 minutes after they decided on a divorce.  This small place does me well ... I live and run two of my business out of it , great neighbors in a quiet, rural place.

I did all the repairs in this place myself , including the recent windows and doors but hired someone to do the roof since it's so critical. Big mistake ; I unknowingly hired a crack head that used $1,000. of the deposit on drugs and hadn't $25.00 left to rent a nail gun. Long story made short ; I ended up having to spend the three hottest days of the year last week on my roof repairing this guys brutal  work and hiring two other guys to do the shingling.  But it's over now and looks great.

Now I'm in the market for a used shotgun just in case I come down with a terminal illness. If I do , I will be blowing the 'drug roofer'  in fuking half  ala Doc Holliday one evening in his own living room. He should be praying I continue to have great health.
