I've been off line for about a month ; my old PC died and I was on a trip so just bought a new computer yesterday. I went with a MAC this time as all the photo editors I deal with encouraged me to do so as MAC's are supposed to be the best for graphics , etc.
Anyway, after picking this up yesterday I bought a clip at a site and have not been able to open it ... I just get a message ststing ' the movie cannot be opened '. This was equipped with the basic Quick Time thing so I went to the QT site and thought about downloading the 'QT Pro' for $30.00 but then read some reviews there and some were saying it sucked and they still had problems so I decided to wait and see what you guys use to view clips , if you are using a MAC. The file was a .wmv and with my old, antique PC I never had problems with the Windows Media Player.
I admit that I was thinking of my photography when buying this thing and never gave it a thought that MACS might not read certain files very well but that's the feeling I'm now getting after reading some reviews at the Quick Time site.
So ... any advice you guys can give will be appreciated. I'm just hoping it isn't to buy a PC just to get my girlie wrestling fixes.
