Apart from my (diminishing) loyalty to DWW, my principal provider of catfight entertainment this year has been East Coast Cats. The site is supported by a Yahoo message board which curiously is not linked from the main site.

The first thing you'll notice when exploring the site is its deliberate lack of product descriptions. You are expected to pay $27 for a download without knowing (a) the file format, (b) the video quality, (c) the length of the fight, or (d) the rules of the fight. I believed this to be a careless beginner's omission and pointed it out on the message board, but that was six months ago. The missing information, in any case, is (a) WMV files generally 100MB in size, (b) varying between 320x240 and 640x480, (c) about 25 minutes of fighting, plus some arm wrestling or warm-up, and (d) wrestling with hairpulling and slapping allowed to gain as many submissions as possible within the determined time limit.

The fights I've seen are fully competitive, except ECC-6, where one woman is so outclassed that her opponent has to hold back to avoid demolishing her entirely. The fights are usually tacitly broken down into segments, so that they'll fight on their feet using body-slapping only during part of the fight, wrestle without hairpulling during another part of it, and so on. This is probably done to allow the women to continue for a full 25-minute fight.

The fighting varies from unskilled to semi-skilled. Submissions are gained either by leg scissors or from pure exhaustion. (The latter is not very satisfying to me.)

The company's one indisputable star is Pandora. She's coy and cute in interviews but definitely an aggressive wrestler with remarkable speed and endurance. So remarkable, in fact, that the company has been having trouble to find opponents who can pose a true challenge. To put it bluntly, scroll down their product list and you'll find women who are either rather plain-looking or not particularly good wrestlers. You can generally tell the winner in advance or maybe 30 seconds into the fight.

Still, I can recommend two fights with some reservations. In ECC-9, Pandora fights slightly heavier Cory, who has the necessary raw strength but not the skill. She does defend herself bravely, and it's exciting to watch Pandora against somebody who can take her punishment without immediately falling to pieces. There's a moment in the fight where both women have each other trapped in reverse headlocks, like siamese twins joined together and struggling, and for a brief while it's a true contest of strength where neither will back down and yield an inch.

In ECC-12, Pandora fights Kat and gets the upper hand immediately. After pushing Kat to the verge of tears, Pandora eases off on her to let her finish the fight in one piece. This allows Kat to learn the ropes during the actual fight, and the final fall is a real catfight, as intense and exciting as I'd like them, with both women struggling as if everything depended on that one final point. (Off camera, a spectator can be overheard saying, "Jesus, she sounded like she was giving birth.")

I will end this with a personal nostalgic comment. Back in 1997 when I got Internet access and discovered that I wasn't the only one in the world with a soft spot for women fighting, I ordered my very first catfight video, DWW-83. It was amazing. Two gorgeous redheads lock up in a catfight on the ground, arms tight around each other, and start pulling each other's hair. The one on her back is not quite satisfied with the situation, throws up her legs towards her opponent's head, digs her toes into her opponent's hair and starts pulling. Cory does the same thing to Pandora.

Thanks for the review. I had seen East Coast cats promo vids on YouTube and had been impressed by Pandora. She is really good looking. How did she fare against old pro Brandy? Did you see that one?

I didn't see that one myself, but a post on the message board described Pandora's fights against Kat and Cory as the most challenging ones for her. Since the outcome was never in serious doubt in those two fights, I take it for granted that Pandora defeated Brandy.

Apparently Pandora is a soccer player, so she has a reason to stay fit outside of her catfight appearances. And, of course, soccer players have tremendous leg strength. Her scissors are enough to make at least one of her opponents start sobbing. They really ought to find an opponent at her level. I'd say Dakota maybe, although she's not my type at all.
